YUENIII's dark desk, warmed by oak and tuned for sound

S·0174 · YUENIII · Hangzhou, China · 2026

In their own words

Starting from practicality: through sensible arrangement and touches of lighting, a dark desk paired with a bit of wood grain and white peripherals creates atmosphere and depth while staying practical for everyday use.

Observation notes

YUENIII is a photographer in Hangzhou who built around contrast — a dark, low-lit surface broken up by red oak grain and a handful of white peripherals. Nothing here shouts. The desk is tuned for mood and daily use in equal measure, which is the harder thing to pull off than either alone. Sound sits at the center. A pair of Edifier MR4 monitors flank the display at equal height, framing the screen instead of crowding it. The infi75 anchors the surface in a seagrass colorway with side-printed legends — the one warm-cool note that lifts off the dark Galaxias felt. A Logitech MX Anywhere 3 sits beside it. Light does the rest of the layering. A Yeelight RGB bar washes the screen and the wall behind it, a Lofree lamp glows low to one side, and a Divoom Times Gate runs pixel-art and the handle in the corner. The Sony A7 III resting on the desk isn't a prop — it's the trade showing through. Dark, layered, practical. Atmosphere that accumulated rather than got staged.
