Scope
This page covers requests to remove content published on beyond-desk.com — primarily photos and setup entries in the gallery, which are real workspaces submitted by their owners to the World Desk Setup Festival (WDSF). Scan photos are not covered here because they are never published; for scan data deletion, see our Privacy Policy.
Who can request removal
- The contributor — you submitted the setup and want it taken down, in part or in full. You do not need to give a reason.
- A person visible in a photo — you appear in (or your personal information is visible in) a published photo, even if you did not submit it.
- A rights holder — you believe a published photo or text infringes your copyright or other rights.
How to request
Email beyond-desk@hexcal.com with:
- The page or photo URL (or the setup name as shown in the gallery);
- Who you are in relation to it (contributor / person in the photo / rights holder);
- For contributors: send the request from the email address you used when submitting to WDSF, or mention details only the contributor would know. For rights holders: identify the work and the basis of your claim.
We may ask one round of follow-up questions to verify the request. We do not require legal paperwork for contributors removing their own setups.
What happens next
- Acknowledgment within 7 days of receiving your request.
- Removal within 14 days of verification: the setup page and photos come off the public gallery, derived images are removed from our storage, and CDN caches are purged. Because caches and search engines refresh on their own schedules, third-party copies may take longer to disappear — that part is outside our control, and we say so rather than promise otherwise.
- Upstream flag: the entry is marked as withdrawn in our internal content system, so it cannot be republished by our content pipeline. On request, we also delete the underlying photos from internal storage.
- Award records: if the setup won a WDSF award, we will remove the photos and personal details. You can choose whether the award line itself stays (anonymized, e.g. “entry withdrawn by contributor”) or is removed entirely.
What we will not do
- We will not silently ignore a request. Every request gets a reply, including refusals, with reasons.
- We will not repost removed content in future site versions, exports, or archives.
- We will not require you to explain why you want your own setup removed.
Timing note for in-progress festival seasons
During an active WDSF season, removal of a competing entry also withdraws it from the running competition. We will confirm this consequence with you before acting on the request.
