Pier's warm wood desk setup — Italy

S·0036 · Pier · Italy · 2025

In their own words

Start with a good chair, it is very underrated but very important. Another thing, the computer, you will notice a lot of difference between using a laptop maybe a few years old and a powerful and fresh machine, maybe built by you :)

Observation notes

Start with a good chair, it is very underrated but very important.

Pier's desk matches its wood tone across nearly every object on it — the desk itself, the monitor shelf, a pen cup, a phone stand, and a small catchall bowl are all the same warm oak, giving a curved HUAWEI monitor and a wall of small electronics a surprisingly unified base to sit on. Two succulents and a lit candle are the only non-wood, non-hardware objects in frame.

Under the shelf, a compact edit console with color-coded macro keys sits beside a mini dock and a cable organizer box, everything routed to keep the desk surface itself down to a keyboard, a vertical ergonomic mouse, and a felt deskmat. A remote sits in its own small wood tray rather than loose on the desk — evidence of a setup where every object has an assigned spot.

Pier's own starting advice — a good chair first, then a machine that can actually keep up — shows up in the mesh ergonomic chair anchoring the frame, doing the unglamorous work that makes the rest of the desk usable for long dev sessions.
