SummaryThe paper introduces VISAUTOCOMPLETE, a system that reconceptualizes visualization authoring as a sequential process, recommending concrete next design steps at each stage like text autocompletion. It distills LLM translation logic into a single function for responsive interaction and is evaluated against LLM vibecoding, Excel, and TaskVis, outperforming them on complex chart authoring articulacy.
Why it mattersConcrete AI-assisted chart authoring system with formal evaluation against three baselines; useful reference for designing step-based AI recommendation tools.
