My advice for beginners is to just start and do not worry about the latest and greatest gear.

Nicholas Hastings, who goes by Suade, built a faceted acoustic-panel backdrop lit deep blue, with a matching swirl wallpaper carried across both the ultrawide monitor and the MacBook beside it — laptop and desktop treated as one continuous screen rather than a secondary device. Nanoleaf hexagon panels glow overhead, and a small potted plant and warm candle sit off to the side as the only non-electronic objects on the desk.

A macro shot of the embossed Hexcal desk mat confirms the material under a low-profile keyboard, caught mid-type in a close-up that also shows a red accent keycap breaking up the black set. An exploded-view iPhone poster hangs to the right of the desk — a small nod to the gear that gets taken apart before it gets fixed.
